Six-year-old Baxter is proof that sometimes the best things come in a slightly chunky, 56-pound package. 😂❤️

Baxter is a neutered Black Mouth Cur mix who is just an absolute sweetheart. He seems very eager to please and genuinely enjoys spending time with our workers, especially when he gets to hang out in the yard with them. He’s the kind of guy who seems happiest when he’s included and getting some one-on-one attention.

And can we talk about the Black Mouth Cur for a minute? 👀

Black Mouth Curs are known for being loyal, intelligent, affectionate, and hardworking dogs. They were historically developed as versatile working dogs, so they tend to enjoy having something to do and being involved with their people. They can form incredibly strong bonds with their families and often thrive when they get plenty of interaction, activity, and opportunities to use their brains.

Of course, every dog is an individual, and Baxter is here to show us that the breed’s loyalty and affection can come in a very sweet, shelter-dog package. ❤️

Baxter is already neutered, and at 56 pounds, he could probably stand to lose a couple of those pounds… but please don’t tell him we said that. 🤫😂 He has a reputation to maintain.

What Baxter really needs now is someone who will appreciate his sweet personality, include him in their life, and give him the love and companionship he deserves.
