Trooper’s Story

It had been nearly two weeks since his little legs had been broken. The initial pain and shock had become a dull ache, and he’d gotten pretty good at hopping around on his back legs.

He was terrified of the cars that sped by, as he peered out from the weeds at the side of the road. This was the place he had been discarded. He no longer knew who to trust.

But just when his spirit was fading, and he felt as though he’d succumb to his hunger and thirst, and a gentle hand reached down to rescue him. He heard a soft voice say,

“It’s ok little guy. You’ll be safe at Pound Buddies.”

Trooper underwent extensive emergency orthopedic surgery that evening. He then spent the next three months in the care of a Pound Buddies’ foster mom as his legs healed and he gained the strength to begin walking.

When Jim and Connie Karry met Trooper in the summer of 2021, they weren’t really looking for another dog. They’d always had bigger dogs, but now that they were both retired and had downsized their home, a dog didn’t seem to be in their future…until they met Trooper.

It took no time for them to realize Trooper was the perfect fit for them and they fell in love with this silly little guy!  They formally adopted him from Pound Buddies and he’s now living his best life chasing toys and cuddling in their laps.

In loving memory of Jim Karry.
